The accuracy of a digital multimeter is not the same as the display resolution, and the accuracy refers to the maximum allowable error limit of the reading. In general, manufacturers will benchmark DC voltage (DCV) accuracy against other manufacturers' specifications because DCV has higher accuracy compared to other functions. Accuracy specifications can be expressed as ±( percent of reading plus percent of span).
